Editorial charter
This charter sets out the professional standards that govern the production of all content published by In Côte d'Ivoire. It binds the newsroom, its contributors and its commercial partners. It is reviewed annually by the publication director.
Article 1 — Editorial independence
1.1. Decisions concerning the selection, preparation and publication of editorial content belong exclusively to the editorial staff.
1.2. No advertiser, sponsor, shareholder, public authority or political organisation may impose, modify, preview or veto editorial content.
1.3. Journalists must decline any gift, invitation, remuneration or advantage likely to compromise their independence or create the appearance of a conflict of interest.
Article 2 — Accuracy and verification
2.1. Every item of information is verified against at least one primary source — official documents, direct testimony, field reporting — prior to publication.
2.2. Allegations that may harm the reputation of a person or an organisation require at least two independent sources and an effort to obtain the response of the party concerned.
2.3. Figures, dates and quotations are checked against their original source. Press releases are always identified as such and are never reproduced without editorial verification.
Article 3 — Sources
3.1. Sources are identified by default. Anonymous sourcing is permitted only when identification would expose the source to professional or personal risk, and only with the prior agreement of an editor.
3.2. The newsroom protects the confidentiality of its sources in accordance with applicable law.
Article 4 — Fairness and the right of reply
4.1. Persons or organisations who are the subject of critical reporting are given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication.
4.2. Any person who considers themselves wronged by our coverage may request a right of reply, which will be examined by the publication director and published where justified.
Article 5 — Corrections
5.1. Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are established. Corrections appearing in published articles are disclosed in a note indicating what was changed and when.
5.2. Requests for correction may be sent to contact@incotedivoire.net.
Article 6 — Separation of editorial and commercial content
6.1. Advertising and sponsored material is always identified by the label "Sponsored" or "Partner content".
6.2. Sponsors purchase visibility only. They acquire no right over the newsroom's output.
Article 7 — Use of artificial intelligence
7.1. AI tools may assist with transcription, translation support or data processing.
7.2. No text published under the name of In Côte d'Ivoire is released without human writing, editorial review and validation by an editor.
Article 8 — Respect for individuals
8.1. Reporting respects human dignity. Images or details that may identify victims, minors or vulnerable persons are used only where strictly necessary and legally permissible.
8.2. Content inciting hatred, discrimination or violence is prohibited on our platforms, including in user submissions.
